Liner Notes

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already made it through seventy-two minutes of noise, and I’m not sorry one fucking bit for the length.

This record started with a simple idea. What if a punk album could grow up in front of you, not by getting cleaner or calmer, but by getting braver? It begins in a basement with a voice that won’t be quiet, spoken one moment and screamed the next, over octave riffs and drums that sound like a room full of people who refuse to leave. It ends somewhere else entirely, in a place that’s messier and more tender than where it started. Between those two points, the tempo climbs, the guitars get wider, and the people in the room multiply.

I think of the album as four rooms in one house.

The first room is for the ones who were told to take up less space. The vocals are raspy and urgent, the dynamics swing from near-silence to full collapse, and nothing is polished because polish was never the point. This is where the threads get spun.

The second room is the wall of sound. Faster, tighter, and louder, with shouted responses coming back at the lead like a crowd that knows every word. It’s solidarity at 210 BPM. If you felt your pulse chase the drums, that was on purpose.

The third room is where the windows open. The power chords get bright, the choruses get big enough for everyone to sing, and the whole thing starts to feel like a Midwestern summer you didn’t want to end. It’s both joy and pain, and I wanted it all to be earned.

The fourth room is the one I was most afraid to write. The riffs are still breakneck, but there’s a crack in the voice now, a bittersweet edge underneath the speed. It’s the sound of holding on and letting go at the same time. If you’re a little wrecked by the end, we got there together.

Everything here was built to sound like a live band, because that’s where this music belongs. You’ll hear the edges, the breath, the strain. I left them in on purpose. A record like this should sound like people made it.

Thank you for listening all the way through. Thank you to everyone who played on these tracks, shouted on them, and gave me the courage to leave the rough parts rough. And thank you to every basement that ever let a loud kid in.

Turn it up. Then do something that scares the shit out of you.

Sound

A volatile, high-energy punk rock album arc evolving from raw riot grrrl and literary post-hardcore into melodic skate punk, hardcore intensity, and an emotionally charged emo-inflected finale.

Opens at 170 BPM with fierce, raspy female vocals shifting between spoken-word urgency and cathartic screams, heavy octave-driven guitar riffs, distorted bass, relentless live drums, and abrasive quiet-to-loud dynamics.

Escalates to a blistering 210 BPM wall of distorted guitars, frantic percussion, clipped bass, and explosive shouted gang-vocal responses, capturing uncompromising feminist solidarity and basement-show chaos.

Transitions into triumphant, high-octane Midwestern pop-punk at 190 BPM, with fast power-chord progressions, double-time drums, energetic male tenor vocals, punchy overdriven bass, and anthemic communal choruses.

Closes with urgent melodic hardcore and emotionally raw emo-punk intensity, retaining breakneck rhythms, driving octave guitars, aggressive male vocals, and explosive gang harmonies while introducing greater melodic vulnerability, bittersweet tension, and cathartic release.

Unpolished, visceral, fiercely independent, and progressively more melodic, with an organic live-band sound, dynamic shifts, escalating emotional stakes, and a climactic, triumphant finale that leaves the listener exhilarated and emotionally spent.
