When you first hold a piece of fruit that’s been caught in an early freeze or knocked against a branch, your eye instinctively catches the mark, the dark indentation, the softened skin, the stain where the world left its impression.

Most pass it by in search of something pristine and untouched. But those with a discriminating palate know the secret: perfection is sterile. The bruise is where the sugars concentrate. It is where the flesh softens, ripens, and reaches its absolute peak of sIetness and depth.

That is the guiding spirit behind this record. When I sat down to build Bruised Fruit, I stripped away the glossy, cavernous reverb that so often hide the raw edges of a performance. I wanted you right in the room with me, close enough to hear the scrape of fingers against steel strings, the air intake before every phrase, and the dry, unvarnished crack of the snare.

To give the record its signature eerie, lingering atmosphere, I infused subtle pitch wobbles, detuned tape flutter, and unexpected harmonic textures beneath the surface. It’s a soundscape that feels intimately familiar yet subtly off-kilter, matching the quiet vulnerability of the lead vocalist.

Across these tracks, you’ll hear a living dynamic arc, tense midnight post-punk sprints, quiet bedroom acoustic reflections, dark driving basslines, and chamber-folk crescendos. Every song examines what happens after the impact, the letters hidden in drawers, the frost on the glass, the quiet resilience of standing ground when the sky comes down.

Thank you for pressing play and taking the time to listen deeply. Don’t be afraid of the rough edges because that’s where all the flavor lives.
