Note from JJ, Creator
I didn’t intend to make a nostalgia record. I attempted to find a wormhole.
Somewhere between the fuzz-drenched sitars drifting out of Kolkata basements in 1966 and the strutting, snarling guitars of a Camden pub in 1995, I stumbled upon a frequency that shouldn’t exist but does. This album lives inside that frequency. It’s the sound of a Bengali Psychedelic band (who never broke up) jamming with an unknown Britpop group that gives Kula Shaker a run for their money, both of them somehow playing the same song at the same time in two different eras. I’d like to think George Harrison would approve, but one can dream.
You’ll hear tabla locking into a Britpop backbeat like it was always meant to be there. You’ll hear a swirling harmonium answered by a wall of chiming, distorted guitars. You’ll hear Bengali-inflected melodic phrasing dissolve into feedback, then reassemble into something that sounds like Manchester, then Kolkata, then neither, then both. You’ll hear adjacent musical genres used as the glue to keep it all together. Nothing here is a mash-up. Nothing here is a gimmick. This is one improbable band, one breath, one continuous psychedelic sprawl across decades and continents, played as if the distance was never there to begin with.
(It’s actually another construct we devise to explain reality as we are utterly clueless, but that’s another story.)
Twelve tracks. No skips. This isn’t background music, it’s a new world groove. Put it on, let the first drone swallow the room, and don’t look up until it’s over.
This is what I do.
This is TATANKA.
Turn it up.
Please generate an concept album of instrumental tracks that is a seamless and organic fusion of late 1960s Bengali style Indian Psychedelic music and quintessential 1990s Britpop. I need twelve (12) of the first tracks of the album. Do not argue with me about generating 12 at once; you constantly do so, it is my expectation. It has to take the listener on a trippy, mind blowing rock journey across time and space. Use any and all instruments, effects, production and Bengali vocal effects. Title the track as you choose.
