*My Review

An excerpt of this editor’s review of the artist, as I delve deeper into her work and my respect grows exponentially for her brilliance:

“Vocally, the music, the vibe, your sense of humor, especially when (to me) it seems like you’re mocking stupidity, not femininity, but in America we have a lot of “unoriginal macho energy” and, unfortunately, even some women now are duped into “Unoriginal Femme Energy.” I initially thought was your edge, your angle. The video I embedded is brilliant. All of you having a cliché slumber party, with girl food – cake, champagne (your friend almost threw up from drinking so much at one time and you left that clip inside, which was pure art!). So I was thinking, okay… she, to me, seems influenced by artists like Joan Jett, Shirley Manson (Garbage), Courtney Love, even some vintage Cyndi Lauper… but then I saw it. A poster of James Dean. I suddenly thought, no, she’s a female James Dean. She’s not mocking him, but embracing him and channeling him through her music. No one has done this before, at least no ” girl rocker” I know, so if I guessed correctly, good for you, and keep it up! Because your work is intangible, almost impossible to categorize, record labels will realize this and do what I did – watch, listen and admire your work, regardless of your gender. The reason I selected that specific featured image – the big one at the top – is that it reminds me a lot of JD’s epic poster. You know which one.”

I’m just a typical American musician, but if Trixie’s music can resonate on those levels with me, that might explain why I titled the article as I did. Watch her star go supernova and illuminate the planet.
