Hedwig and the Angry Inch broke the mold(s). The film gut-punches everyone, but as a musician, I was first floored with the soundtrack. To me it sounded like a lost @eltonjohn, late @thebeatles album. Huge, yet tiny, brilliant pieces that tore out my heart, not to mention the performances on screen. So much beauty. So much pain. This is a quintessential example of why we hope to have a GRRL singer. She sings of love, loss, hate, fate, all universal themes, but we control our own destiny as did she, over, and over, and over…
