She was born Tomoko Nakamura in Kyoto, in a house where the old city pressed against the new with no apology. Her father repaired traditional lacquerware. Her mother wrote code for a biotech firm in Osaka. She grew up between those two worlds, ancient patience and relentless forward motion, and never fully belonged to either.
What she knew from the beginning, and couldn’t say for years, was that the person everyone called Tomoko was a costume she wore with decreasing conviction. By the time she found her way into TATANKA’s orbit, drawn by the Orchestra Americana’s radical insistence that every voice belongs, she was already mid-transformation. Not finished. Never finished. But moving.
She chose the name TR4NS-LUC3NT herself. Not as a statement, though it is one. As a description. Light passing through. Visibility earned. Clarity on the other side of something hard.
NEO-GENESIS // 再生のプロトコル is not a transition album. It is a rebirth protocol, her words, precise and deliberate. Fifteen transmissions from a self in active reconstruction. The cyberpunk aesthetic isn’t borrowed nostalgia; it’s the honest texture of her inner life. She has always experienced identity as architecture, something designed, built, occasionally torn down and rebuilt better.
DIVINE_PULSE opens the album like a heartbeat finding its rhythm after long arrhythmia. PAPER CRANE, 折り鶴の願い, sits quietly at track fourteen, a single delicate wish folded into the album’s steel and neon. It is the most personal thing here, and she almost cut it. I told her not to. It’s the center everything else orbits.
GHOST_SHADOW, 名もなき影, is the nameless shadow that follows anyone who has lived as someone they are not. TR4NS-LUC3NT doesn’t run from it here. She turns and looks directly at it.
This album was built in the open, using tools that reflect TATANKA’s philosophy, AI as collaborator, not shortcut. Human creativity processed through Google Flow Music, shaped in conversation with Claude.ai and ChatGPT, assembled in Audacity 4 on Linux. Transparent process. Nothing hidden. Like her.
She is a member of TATANKA’s Orchestra Americana now. She plays and composes and exists here as fully herself, which is the only thing TATANKA has ever asked of anyone.
