On Transgender Day of Visibility, we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect Union — where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives.
I am proud that my Administration has stood for justice from the start, working to ensure that the LGBTQI+ community can live openly, in safety, with dignity and respect. I am proud to have appointed transgender leaders to my Administration and to have ended the ban on transgender Americans serving openly in our military.
I am proud to have signed historic Executive Orders that strengthen civil rights protections in housing, employment, health care, education, the justice system, and more. Transgender Americans are part of the fabric of our Nation and deserve the same rights and freedoms as every other American.
My Administration is working to stop the bullying and harassment of transgender children and their families. We are providing mental health support and making public services more accessible for transgender Americans, including with more inclusive passports and easier access to Social Security benefits.
I continue to call on Congress to pass the Equality Act, to codify civil rights protections for all LGBTQI+ Americans. Today, we send a message to all transgender Americans: You are loved. You are heard. You are understood. You belong. You are America, and my entire Administration and I have your back.

Transgender Day of Visibility is observed annually on March 31st to celebrate and uplift the transgender community. This day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the challenges and discrimination faced by transgender individuals and to honor their resilience and contributions to society. It provides an opportunity for transgender people to share their stories, advocate for their rights, and promote visibility and acceptance within society. The significance of this day cannot be understated, as it plays a crucial role in challenging societal norms and fostering a more inclusive and equitable world for all individuals.
One of the primary goals of Transgender Day of Visibility is to increase awareness and understanding of transgender issues. In a world where transgender individuals continue to face discrimination, violence, and marginalization, visibility serves as a powerful tool for challenging misconceptions and promoting acceptance. By sharing their stories and experiences, transgender people can humanize their struggles and educate others about the importance of equality and respect for all individuals, regardless of their gender identity.
Visibility is also important for empowering transgender individuals to embrace their authentic selves and live openly and proudly. For many transgender people, coming out and living openly can be a daunting and risky process, as they may fear rejection, discrimination, or violence. Transgender Day of Visibility provides a supportive and affirming space for transgender individuals to celebrate their identities, connect with others in the community, and take pride in who they are. By promoting visibility and empowerment, this day encourages transgender people to stand up for their rights, advocate for social change, and live authentically and unapologetically.
Another key aspect of Transgender Day of Visibility is the celebration of the resilience and accomplishments of transgender individuals. Despite facing immense challenges and barriers, transgender people have made significant contributions to various fields, including activism, art, science, academia, and politics. By highlighting the achievements and talents of transgender individuals, this day seeks to counteract the negative stereotypes and stigma that often surround the transgender community and showcase the diversity and richness of transgender experiences.
Visibility also plays a crucial role in fostering solidarity and unity within the transgender community. Many transgender individuals face isolation and discrimination, which can have detrimental effects on their mental health and well-being. Transgender Day of Visibility provides a space for transgender people to come together, share their struggles, offer support and solidarity to one another, and build a sense of community and belonging. This sense of solidarity can be empowering and transformative, as it reminds transgender individuals that they are not alone and that their voices and experiences matter.
Furthermore, Transgender Day of Visibility serves as a call to action for individuals, organizations, and governments to take concrete steps to support and protect the rights of transgender people. From advocating for inclusive policies and laws to providing access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities, there are many ways in which society can work towards creating a more equitable and just world for transgender individuals. Through education, advocacy, and allyship, we can work towards creating a society where transgender people are respected, valued, and able to live their lives authentically and without fear of discrimination or violence.
In conclusion, Transgender Day of Visibility is a vital and necessary observance that shines a light on the struggles, achievements, and resilience of the transgender community. By promoting visibility, empowerment, solidarity, and advocacy, this day plays a critical role in challenging discrimination, promoting acceptance, and creating a more inclusive and equitable world for all individuals. As we reflect on the significance of this day, let us commit ourselves to standing in solidarity with transgender individuals, amplifying their voices, and working towards a more just and compassionate society for all.
