One of the goals of TATANKA is to eventually begin writing, recording and performing originals. Traffic to the site and our Socials is growing, and today I received my first email from a potential singer, so now might be an ideal time to begin sharing songs of mine.
None of these are intended to be adopted and adapted, but the idea is along with the TATANKA Influences playlist, to help illustrate what the end products could be. TATANKA will be a Democracy – by consensus we will decide many things – in this case if an existing song is worthy of the TATANKA hoof print.
As the TATANKA plan is to be eclectic, my “demos,” if you will, hopefully convey that scope of genres, so, no, there never was a “sound” I adhered to, and that is a good thing, IMHO. I will begin with an old number from 1999, twenty-five years ago. I won’t bore anyone with the lyrics but in short, it is written about a friend of mine who is an English teacher in Brasil. I do a terrible job of identifying my own influences, but I likely was in a John Lennon and Lenny Kravitz phase. Other opinions might differ, also a good thing.
I hope you enjoy but my ulterior motive is to throw out some of my own stuff to see if anything resonates with anyone, resulting in more interest. Comments are ALLOWED (we’ll see how it goes… ahem…) so please feel free to share your opinion, be it positive or negative (I was a Creative Writing major so bring it!).
And guess what! If you engage here, you are officially part of the TATANKA HERD, so be sure to head over to HERD to take our mini interview!
OK, to get this metaphoric ball rolling, without further ado, here is Carpe Diem.
Pardon my SEO/Content Marketing:
Carpe Diem, a song released in 1999, explores the theme of seizing the day. The lyrics delve into the lives of characters who are faced with challenges and opportunities, highlighting the importance of making the most of every moment. The song encourages listeners to embrace the present and live life to the fullest, as showcased in the characters’ journeys.
The song’s message is powerful and resonates with audiences of all ages. It serves as a reminder to prioritize experiences and relationships over material possessions, emphasizing the value of living in the moment. Through its storytelling, Carpe Diem effectively conveys the significance of seizing opportunities and cherishing the present.
The video’s impact extends beyond its narrative, as it features a memorable soundtrack that enhances the emotional depth of the scenes. The music adds another layer of meaning to the story, creating a sensory experience that immerses viewers in the characters’ world.
Overall, Carpe Diem is a universal tenet to inspire everyone to embrace life’s opportunities and make the most of every moment. Its themes of seizing the day and living in the present serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of cherishing the here and now.
