Aimie Apigian, MD MS MPH continues:
“Healing Is Never Accomplished ‘In The Story.’
“Although there is a place for story in your healing journey…The ANSWER to healing has always been in your nervous system.”
~~~
“You adapted to life experiences to survive but you are not your trauma.”
Dr Apigian notes there is a significant difference between stress and trauma:
“When you’re under a stress your body is high energy – trying to get your body through something. But it can start to shake, you can start to feel low on energy, you may be deficient in magnesium, you may be an under-methylator and have some high oxidative stress – there are so many different factors that can weigh in on when your body decides, Oof I’m too shaky, this is too much for me.”
~~~
Dr. Apigian comments about her programs:
“The Foundational Journey is comprised of my 21 Day Journey and Introduction to All Parts of Me courses.
“Together, these courses integrate the somatic and parts work which are essential to effectively address stored trauma in the body. The courses run back to back for a combined total of 6 weeks.”

In an article of hers (on the Medium site), Dr. Apigian writes:
“It is possible to rewire! Neuroplasticity is the ability of the nervous system to change. It can rewire when we address and optimize the biology of the nervous system.
“Then, between the effective trauma therapies and the body’s innate ability to heal itself, this shift to security and health occurs.
“There is so much more to life and health when a person becomes aware of their trauma patterns and does the work to rewire. They achieve the next level of health and aliveness!”

Dr. Aimie Apigian, MD, MS, MPH, is an author, speaker and founder of Trauma Healing Accelerated.
She writes about a previous free event of hers:
“I never thought I had trauma. Until my health crashed, leaving my world spinning and searching for answers.
“You might instantly identify with the word trauma. Or, like me many years ago, you might not. Our body will always communicate if it is experiencing or has experienced trauma… though sometimes in surprising ways!”
~~~~~~
Dr Apigian notes:
“The way we can identify trauma is through patterns of our life. Patterns for numbing. Patterns for managing emotions. Patterns for being able to handle difficult conversations.
“Do we emotionally check out? Mentally check out? What are our patterns around food and eating? Is there emotional eating going on? That is a part of the freeze response. Numbing different emotions is part of the freeze response.
“There are all these different ways in which we can see trauma, even though we might not have recognized it as trauma. We recognize it as, “Oh, this is this is my personality,” or, “This is my attachment style.”
“Always pushing people away to protect our heart, or doing the opposite and latching on to people and never letting them go, for example.”
From the video – Dr. Apigian comments:
“Overwhelm. Overwhelm. There was a time when I thought that overwhelm just meant stress, and I even used words like “chronic stress.” That was one lesson I had to learn, and I want to share with you guys because it’s a very important distinction.
“Stress is not the same as overwhelm. Anxiety is something where you have this actual threat, you have an increase of energy, because there’s a threat, there’s a danger: ‘What am I going to do? Let me figure out what I can do.’ Stress is actually an increase in energy.
But “when you say ‘It’s just been too much. I’m overwhelmed.’ What do you notice happening in your body right now as I say that? Do you get an increase in energy? Or do you get a decrease in energy? Decrease in energy. That’s the overwhelmed state. That right there is your trauma response.”
From her article “Actionable Steps To Conquer Overwhelm” on her site Trauma Healing Accelerated:
“If you had control, there is no way you would have let life go this wrong!
However, once you go into overwhelm, the survival mechanisms that comes out in humans is very predictable. If you don’t have any control, a major survival mechanism that emerges is becoming very passive and emotionally numb.
The human body will give up by shutting down for a time, and you will fall into an apathetic state where you don’t care what is happening. This is your bodies way of managing survival. Drugs, alcohol, and other addictive habits can increase that sense of apathy.
Have you felt yourself shutting down emotionally from having too much too fast in life, or from having had too little for too long?
This is how you know you’ve been in overwhelm and it’s time to regain your peace and health.
Which leads us to how to come out of the overwhelm back into a place of peace.
The first step in combating overwhelm is getting back a sense of control. Once you have a plan of action, it’s amazing how immediately the overwhelm lessens.”
Dr. Apigian asks:
What if healing is not in the story?
What if healing is not in telling someone what happened to us or what should have happened to us?
Instead of helping, we find ourselves re-triggered and re-traumatized from the story.
The body only has one trauma response, and it involves actual biological states. Anything that hits us too much too fast, or too little for too long, leads us into the trauma response.
Understanding this biological response in the body shows us exactly where to begin with healing stored trauma in the body.
Dr. Apigian has created the ongoing 21-Day Journey to Calm Aliveness Course – a “proven process to address the Biology of Trauma.
“In this eCourse, you’ll be guided by Dr. Aimie through the ESSENTIAL SEQUENCE that addresses trauma stored in the body by directly working with the nervous system.”
“Through the 21-Day Journey, you’ll build the strength and confidence to stay present in times of confrontation and create new positive habits.”
